– The results were released on Thursday, December 29, two months to the expected, usual release date
– Fred Matiangi’ in an address to the media had claimed that the fast release was indicative of his dockets triumph over the examination cheating cartels
The KCSE 2016 results have raised questions on the credibility of the exams owing to its spectacular release a month after it was completed. The Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has come under fire from KNUT on claims that the examination was not credible.
KNUT wants the results cancelled and a remark of the exams to be commissioned. The uproar came after it emerged that only a measly number of the 2016 candidates made it to the University in comparison to the other years.
Over 300,000 students scored grades D, D- and E grades and missed the opportunity to join legitimate tertiary institutions
Outspoken lawyer, Makau Mutua joined the fray that was questioning the legitimacy of the results.
” I don’t buy the 2016 KCSE results. Too fishy. CS @FredMatiangi is selling snake oil. Deep systemic cheating can’t be solved with a wand,” Mutua wrote on Twitter.
KNUTS secretary general, Wilson Sossion had earlier claimed that after investigations, they had reached a conclusion that results did not reflect the true performance of students.
He further claimed that the due process was not followed which casts doubt on the results legitimacy.
KNUT wants the parliament to recall the results so that the due process can be followed.
